[Lacquer Legion Challenge] #LLReflection

Mesmo estando em férias, não podia deixar de passar por aqui né? 

Vim mostrar a vocês a minha última mani do desafio do The Lacquer Legion. Não sei se elas continuarão com a brincadeira (espero que sim), mas eu adorei participar.

Even being on vacation, I couldn't stay away, right?!

I came to show you my last mani for The Lacquer Legion challenge. I don't know if they'll keep doing it next year (I hope so), but I love to have participated.

O tema desse mês é Reflexão. No começo fiquei sem saber o que fazer, mas quando terminei essa mani tive certeza que era a mani certa para o tema.

This month's prompt is #LLReflection. In the beginning I didn't know what to do, but when I finished this mani I was sure it was the right mani for the prompt.

Fiz um dégradé com o Lychee (Barry M) e o White (Mavala), e carimbei por cima com o branco para carimbo da Mundo de Uñas e a plaquinha BM-201 da Bundle Monster. Essa foi a mani que fiz especialmente para o aniversário de 50 anos de casamento dos tios do meu marido no dia 13, onde conheci o resto da minha família holandesa.

I made a gradient with Lychee (Barry M) and White (Mavala), and stamped with BM-201 by Bundle Monster. This was the mani I made specially for hubby's aunt and uncle 50 year anniversary party on the 13th, where I met the rest of my Dutch family.

Encaixei-a no tema reflexão porque reflete exatamente o meu estado de espírito e a fase da vida que estou vivendo: delicadeza, paz e simplicidade. Mais uma mani que amei demais.

I fit it in the prompt because it reflects exactly my state of mind and the phase of my life now: delicate, peaceful and simple. Another mani I like a lot.

Deixo aqui uma foto minha e da minha sogra no final da festa de 50 anos de casamento da irmã dela. Muita felicidade!

I leave here a picture of my mother-in-law and I at the end of the party from her sister's 50th anniversary. So much happiness!

[Lacquer Legion Challenge] #LLYummy

O tema desse mês para o desafio do The Lacquer Legion é Yummy (gíria para saboroso, gostoso, em inglês) e escolhi uma das poucas guloseimas que como hoje em dia: chocolate - de preferência amargo, com mais chocolate mesmo e pouco ou nenhum açúcar!

This month's prompt for The Lacquer Legion challenge is Yummy and I picked one of the few treats I eat nowadays: chocolate - preferably with very little or no sugar at all!

Para minha barrinha de chocolate escolhi o 815 Taupe da Kiko, que para mim é mais marrom do que taupe. Ele tem o pincel achatado e é uma delícia de esmaltar. Seca super rápido também.

For my little chocolate bar I picked 815 Taupe by Kiko, that for me is more brown than taupe. It has a wide flat brush and it's very smooth to apply. It also dries very quickly.

Para a marcação dos quadradinhos usei um pedacinho de papel cartão e fui pressionando delicadamente enquanto a segunda camada do esmalte ainda não estava dura. Depois passei uma terceira camada de esmalte por cima da marcação e marquei de novo, para dar esse efeito mais "gordinho".

To mark the little squares I used a piece of hard paper and pressed carefully while the second coat wasn't hardened yet. Next, I applied a third coat of polish and marked again, to give this "fat" effect.

Para finalizar, passei uma camada do top coat matte da OPI e marquei uma última vez pois o top coat cobriu um pouco a marcação. Apesar de parecer trabalhoso, foi super fácil de fazer.

To finish off, I applied one the matte top coat by OPI and marked for the last time because the top coat covered the squares a bit. It's very easy to do, although it sounds like a lot of work.

Dá vontade de comer as unhas não dá não? Se chocolate não engordasse eu comeria mais do que só dois quadradinhos a cada dois ou três dias... Hahahahahaha

Makes we want to eat the nails, doesn't it? If only chocolate didn't make us gain weight I'd definitely eat more than just two little squares every couple of days... Hahahahahaha

A mani de hoje para o desafio do The Lacquer Legion é no tema do Halloween, e sinceramente, foi uma das piores que já fiz. Estava totalmente sem inspiração.

Today's mani for The Lacquer Legion challenge has to do with Halloween, and honestly, it's one of the worst I've ever made. I was totally out of inspiration.

No polegar e no anelar foram duas camadas do Atomic Orange (OPI), no médio e no mindinho duas do Grape Pop (China Glaze) e no indicador duas do Black Is Black (Essence). 

On the thumb and ring finger I applied two coats of Atomic Orange (OPI), on the middle and pinky two of Grape Pop (China Glaze) an on the index two of Black Is Black (Essence).

Os morcegos e os corvos são da plaquinha Gothic Collection 07 e a lápide, a teia de aranha e os símbolos místicos são da Gothic Collection 01 da MoYou London. O esmalte preto para carimbo é o 2 Black da Mundo de Uñas e o prata é o da La Femme.  

The bats and crows are from the image plate Gothic Collection 07 and the tombstone, spider web and mystic symbols are from Gothic Collection 01 by MoYou London. The black stamping polish is 2 Black by Mundo de Uñas and the silver is from a Brazilian brand called La Femme.

Sinceramente, não gostei. Acho que poderia ter feito melhor, mas estava sem inspiração e sem tempo para fazer outra. 

O que vocês acharam? Dá pra salvar ou ficou uma m... mesmo?

Honestly, I don't like it. I think I could've done better, but I completely lacked inspiration and time to make another one. What do you think? Is it acceptable or is it total shit?

Hoje tem post duplo porque, como vocês sabem bem, participo todos os meses do desafio do The Lacquer Legion.

Today I have a double post because, as you know, every month I take part on The Lacquer Legion challenge. 

O tema para esse mês tem a ver com o outono, que já chegou aqui para nós no hemisfério norte. Crisp em português significa fresco, mas eu interpretei como nítido (um dos outros sinônimos em inglês).

This month's prompt has to do with fall, which is already here on the North hemisphere. 

Escolhi fazer um duplo chevron diferente, com cores que representam o outono. Como base usei o glitter Gold Fever (Essence). Ele composto de glitter dourado bem fininho com pequenos glitters hexagonais vermelhos. Foram 3 camadas fininhas para cobrir bem.

I decided to go for crisp lines and make a different double chevron with colours that recall fall. I used Gold Fever (Essence) as a base. It's made of golden glitter dust with tiny red hex glitters. I applied 3 thin coats to get full coverage.

Coloquei duas fitinhas chevron e passei o Café da Colorama por cima. Retirei as fitinhas e finalizei com top coat. Amei demais essa mani.

I placed two chevron stencils and applied Café by the Brazilian brand Colorama on top. I took the stencils off and finished with top coat. I love this mani.

O post de hoje está atrasado porque fomos visitar um Zoológico super legal na Holanda no sábado. Se vocês quiserem posto fotos depois. Por conta disso, ontem aproveitei para organizar algumas coisas em casa e fazer as unhas, por isso não tive tempo de escrever o post de hoje.
O tema do The Lacquer Legion desse mês é #LLWeirdScience (ciência estranha) e foi um dos mais difíceis até agora. Penei para achar inspiração, algo original e estranho... não consegui. Por isso fiquei só com a ciência mesmo.
Today's post is late because we went to a very nice Zoo in The Netherlands on Saturday. If you want I can post some pictures later on. because of that, yesterday I organised a few things at home and did my nails, so I didn't have time to write today's post.
This month's prompt for The Lacquer Legion Challenge is #LLWeirdScience and it was one of the most difficult ones. It was very hard to find inspiration, something original and weird... I didn't get it. So I settled for just science.

Depois de muito pesquisar em um site que eu adoro, I Fucking Love Science, encontrei um artigo que fala sobre os efeitos da meditação no cérebro. Os resultados da pesquisa revelaram que a atividade aumentou significativamente nas áreas do cérebro associadas com emoções e memórias durante a meditação não direcionada, comparada com a meditação focada. Este foi um resultado inesperado, porque foi assumido que concentra-se ativamente teria aumentado a atividade cerebral.
After a lot of search on a website I adore, I Fucking Love Science, I found an article that talks about how meditation affects the brain. The results found that activity was significantly increased in the areas of the brain associated with emotions and memories during non directive meditation, compared to the focused meditation. This was an unexpected result, as it was assumed that actively concentrating would have increased brain activity.

Para a minha mani comecei com duas camadas do Little Miss Sunrise da Essence, um dos poucos amarelos que eu curto. A esmaltação é aquela típica perfeita da Essence né? Pincel largo e achatado para cobrir a unha com uma passada, secagem rápida e um brilho incomparável. Muito amor!
To start off my mani I applied two coats of Little Miss Sunrise by Essence, one of the few yellows I actually like. Application is that typical perfection by Essence. A wide and flat brush to cover the whole nail in one stroke, quick drying and an incomparable shine. I love it!

Fiz um gradiente com o Mirabella da Chanel e o Live.Love.Carnaval da OPI para tentar um nascer do sol, mas não fui feliz. Dessa vez o gradiente ficou bem tosco... rsrsrsrsrs
No dedo médio desenhei uma pessoa meditando, usando tinta preta e um pincel médio. No mindinho carimbei o símbolo do OM da plaquinha Explorer Collection 21 da MoYou London.
I made a gradient using Mirabella by Chanel and Live.Love.Carnaval by OPI to try a sunrise, but it's a big fail.... rsrsrsrsr
On the middle finger I drew a person meditating, using black acrylic paint and a medium brush. On the pinky I stamped the OM symbol from the image plate Explorer Collection 21 by MoYou London.

Apesar do gradiente ter ficado tosco, eu gostei bastante dessa mani. E vocês, sabiam dos efeitos da meditação no cérebro?
Eu meditava muito quando era criança, mas acabei deixando de lado conforme fui crescendo. Acho que essa é mais uma atividade da minha infância que deveria retomar. Voltar às minhas raízes naturais tem sido muito bom!
Even if I failed on the gradient, I still like this mani. Did you know about the effects of meditation on the brain?
I used to meditate a lot when I was a child, but I left it aside as I grew up. I think this is another activity from my childhood I should get back to. Retrieving my natural roots has been very good!

Chegamos ao fim de mais um mês... Gésuis, como o tempo voa! Kkkkkk... E a mani de hoje é mais uma para o desafio do The Lacquer Legion.
O tema de julho é #LLfandom, interpretando alguém ou alguma coisa de que somos fãs. Pode ser super-herói, filme, programa de TV, enfim, qualquer coisa que faça despertar o fã dentro de nós.

We got to the end of another month... Gosh, how time flies! LOL... And today's mani is another one for The Lacquer Legion challenge.
July's prompt is #LLfandom, interpreting someone or something we are fan of. It can be a super-hero, a movie, a TV show, anything that awakes the fan inside us.

Eu voltei à minha infância para esse tema. Eu tinha 10 anos a primeira vez que assisti TV (de verdade, sem brincadeira, prestando atenção e tudo), e foi exatamente na época que a TV Cultura lançou o Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum (1994-1997). Virei fã incondicional, não perdia um episódio, me divertia e aprendia ao mesmo tempo. Talvez por isso minha mãe tenha nos autorizado à assistir.
I went back to my childhood for this prompt. I was 10 years old the first time I watched TV (for real, no kidding, paying attention and all), and that was exactly when one of the Brazilian TV channels released an educative TV series called Rá-Tim-Bum Castle (1994-1997). I became a big fan, wouldn't miss an episode, had fun and learned at the same time. Maybe that's why mom authorized us to watch.

Um dos quadros que eu mais gostava era o do ratinho. Eu sabia a musiquinha de cor. Por isso escolhi-o para representar o meu momento fã. Como esmalte de base usei esse azul fofíssimo, o Adora-Bleu da Bourjois. Foram duas camadas sobre base fosca. Já usei-o outras vezes, mas ainda não tinha tirado uma foto dele sozinho. 
One of the sketches I liked the most was the little mouse. I knew his song by heart. He sang how good it was to take a bath. That's why I picked him to represent my fandom. My base colour is Adora-Bleu by Bourjois. Two coats over matte base coat. I have already used it before, but didn't have a picture by itself.

Todo o resto eu fiz com tinta acrílica. Comecei com tinta branca para dar forma e colocar as cores em evidência, e depois fui preenchendo com as outras cores. Usei um pincel médio para desenhar o ratinho e um pincel para detalhes para contornar com preto. No mindinho escrevi Banho é Bom (o título da música do ratinho), também com tinha acrílica. 
I did all the rest with acrylic paint. Started with white paint to draw the shapes and make the colours pop, then filled everything with the other colours. I used a medium brush to draw the mouse and a detail brush for the black outlines. On the pinky I wrote Bathing is Good (the title of the mouse's song), also with acrylic paint.

Deixo aqui no final o vídeo do ratinho, para quem não conhece, e para quem quiser matar as saudades da infância.
I leave here the video of the mouse (even if it is in portuguese, it's funny). He describes the parts of the body he washes and ends by saying Bathing is Good.

Tudo bom com vocês? Meu fim de semana foi tão maravilhoso que ainda estou me recuperando... hehehehe. Como chegamos ao último dia do mês, é dia de desafio do The Lacquer Legion né?! Para quem chegou agora e não sabe qual é da brincadeira: um bando de viciadas em esmaltes criou uma página no Facebook para brincar de arte com outras viciadas. Todo mês elas inventam um tema e escolhem uma data para todas publicarem as suas artes juntas!
How are you doing? My weekend was so wonderful I'm still recoverig from it... LOL. Since we got to the last day of the month, it's time for The Lacquer Legion challenge right?! For those who just arrived here and don't know what it is: a bunch of nail polish addicts created a Facebook page to play with art with other NPAs. Every month they come up with a prompt and choose a date so everybody can share their manis at the same time!

Minha vida inteira, sempre tivemos gatos. Ainda bem que meu amor também gosta dos bichanos, pois assim que mudarmos pegaremos um Scottish Fold. Já escolhemos o nome dele e tudo... heheheheheh

Today's the day of The Lacquer Legion challenge and this month's theme is 'Adoration' and even if we don't have enough room to have cats, I'm crazy about them. We always had cats back home in Brazil. Luckily hubby also likes them, because as soon as we move we're gonna get a Scottish Fold. We have already picked its name... lol

How's life going?

As you might have noticed, I'm a very disciplined person and publishing blogposts out of the stipulated dates (for myself) disturbs my methodical being, but ok… it's for a good cause… lol

Vi esse post aqui no facebook da Chalkboard Nails falando sobre dois novos projetos que ela tem para que possamos nos envolver mais com a comunidade esmaltística esse ano. Um deles foi a criação do The Lacquer Legion (A Legião do Esmalte) onde a Sarah, a Sammy, a Leslie e a Rebecca lançarão, uma vez ao mês, um tema de nail art para interpretarmos. Cada post terá uma data específica para ir ao ar e uma hashtag a ser utilizada para que todos os posts sejam conectados uns aos outros.

I saw this post here on Chalkboard Nails' Facebook page talking about two new projects she came up with so we can get more involved with the nail art community in 2014. One of them was the creation of The Lacquer Legion where Sarah, Sammy, Leslie and Rebecca will be putting out, once a month, a nail art prompt to our interpretation. Each prompt will have a post date and a specific hashtag to link everyone up.
